Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., is an internationally well-known scientist, writer and meditation teacher. He is the founder of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and the founder and former director of the world-renowned Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMass).

Dr. Kabat-Zinn received his Ph.D. in molecular biology from MIT in 1971 with the Nobel Laureate in physiology and medicine, Salvador Luria. His research between 1979 and 2002 focused on mind/body interactions for healing and clinical applications of mindfulness meditation training for people with chronic pain and stress-related disorders.

During his career he has trained groups of judges, CEOs and business leaders, lawyers, clergy, and Olympic athletes in mindfulness. His pioneer work has strongly contributed to a growing movement of mindfulness into mainstream institutions world-wide: medicine, health care, schools, higher education, corporations, prisons, and professional sports.
